A colt by I Was Framed prepares for racing debut

METRO, 23 Mar 2012

A 2 year old Thoroughbred colt by I Was Framed, bred at Andbell stud and now named Modern Society won admiration – and double-takes – as he was given the green light to join the racing circuit.
The two-year-old is a skewbald, meaning his body is spattered with patches of white and another non-black colour. The colt was sold as yearling at Tattersalls in October 2010.
Trainer Andrew Reid describes his charge as unique and hopes the horse can begin racing in the coming weeks, after passing the stalls test at Kempton Park, Middlesex, earlier this week.
Mr Reid, who has trained 200 winners, added: ‘He got quite a reaction at Kempton and we’re sure he’ll catch even more attention when he begins racing.
‘He’s almost a freak of nature – thoroughbreds don’t usually come in that colour, let alone go racing. He’s running exceptionally well and we can’t wait to get him started.’
Modern Society is being trained at Mr Reid’s Mill Hill stables in north London.
Photographer John Hoy, who was at Kempton for the stalls test, said: ‘I’ve never seen so many people at a racecourse turn their camera-phones towards a horse. Many assumed it was a pony.’
Modern Society's dam Artzola has also a 2011 colt by I Was Framed, which is aimed at the yearling sales later this year.
