Ivors Rebel tops DBS January Sale

28 Jan 2015

Three-year-old Ivors Rebel (Cockney Rebel), who broke the juvenile track record at Lingfield Park last year over the minimum trip and followed up with a four and a half-length victory at the same track last Saturday, caught the eye of Northern Line Racing to top the one-day DBS January Sale yesterday.  Consigned as Lot 44 by David Elsworth’s Egerton House Stables, who purchased him as a yearling for €5,000, the colt was knocked down to trainer Ruth Carr for £50,000, who said: "We were looking for a horse capable of running in the better races and he fits the bill. We saw his win at the weekend and it was very taking. We think he should be a fun horse.
He's rated in the nineties, so there are not too many races to choose from. We'll get him home and make a decision after that. But he seems to like Lingfield and he could be one we aim at the All-Weather Championships."

Confirming that he had been bought for Northern Line Racing, a representative, Gareth, who was standing with the trainer, added: “We have Marcret (Martino Alonso) and Ruth has done a fantastic job with him and this is the reward.”
