Presvis

5 Oct 2012

Presvis, who is a son of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Sakhee, was retired this spring, after an illustrious and very international career which saw him earn over four million pounds from 28 starts.

Bred by Mrs Mette Cambpell Andenaes, a native of Norway, he is out of the Swedish bred mare Forest Fire, he is owned by the Greek Leonidas Marinopolous and he was trained by the Italian Luca Cumani. Can it get much more international? Probably not, and it was on his travels that Presvis made most of his money. His passport was stamped a good few times, as he trained in Newmarket, England but raced in Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore – countries where there are more opportunities for geldings.

Presvis's finest hour is hard to pinpoint but his win over the South African mare River Jetez in the 2011 Dubai Duty Free stands out, as does his win over Hong Kong champion Viva Pataca in the 2009 Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Presvis retired with £4.3 million (about $6.8 million), making him England's biggest earner over the years. Not bad, for a horse who cost just 15,000 guineas when sold as a foal.
